How parents can participate
Dominion is pleased to offer Project Plant It! as a way to teach students about the benefits of trees. Trees help to moderate climates, improve air quality, absorb carbon, harbor wildlife, prevent soil erosion, and reduce heating and cooling costs. But, most importantly, Project Plant It! benefits our most valuable natural resource our children.
During the week of Arbor Day your child's classroom will celebrate this special day for the environment by planting a tree as part of Project Plant It! As part of the program, the students will learn about the environmental benefits of trees through interactive lesson plans and activities.
To continue this valuable learning experience, we ask you to help your child plant a tree at home. Your child has received a blue spruce tree seedling that is well-suited for planting in residential areas or in a container.
If yard space is not available, you can plant the tree indoors by following the planting instructions that come with the seedling.
- Plant the tree as soon as possible.
- Fill in the blanks on the Arbor Day Certificate that accompanied the letter and post it on your refrigerator or in a prominent place to recognize your childs participation in Project Plant It!
- Download tree care instructions to help continue your childs interest in trees and the environment.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this important part of the Project Plant It! program. We invite you to complete and submit the Parent Feedback Survey. Happy planting!
