Program History
To celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2021, Project Plant It! announced the shift to a new pollinator program, complete with free wildflower seed packets, to teach students about the essential role of bees and other pollinators in sustainability of the environment.
Project Plant It! started as a partnership between Dominion Energy and the Arbor Day Foundation in conjunction with schools, civic organizations, scout troops, environmental groups and other entities that work with youth in regions served by Dominion Energy. Since 2007, the project has distributed more than 600,000 free tree seedlings to participants and has taught thousands of students and community members about the importance of trees to the ecosystem.
Today, through the new grants-based program, we look to our communities to design and implement initiatives that support the unique needs of their surrounding environment.
